My tabs "+" button is not opening up new tabs. How do I fix it?

I can no longer click the new tab button to open a new tab. It does nothing. A new tab only pops up when I click on a website from the current page.

Chosen solution

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

Thanks! That worked!! It was an Avery toolbar (that I wasn't using, but was installed on the computer) that I uninstalled and voilla!! Thank you!!
