Why don't my add-ons work till I restart Firefox?

I just updated to Firefox 6.0, it's "Firefox Portable" so I can run it from my USB drive. I'm on a Windows Vista system.

I have a load of add-ons, mostly privacy and security, and a Persona as well. When I start up Firefox, none of my add-ons are working and my Persona isn't working either. If I close Firefox and open it again, I get the same thing. The only way to fix it that I can find is to install another add-on so it will prompt me to Restart. After this, Firefox loads perfectly.

Is there a different way to restart with all my add-ons intact? It's really annoying to dig through add-on pages just to find something I might want to get my existing add-ons and Persona to work.
