why does firefox 8 not load a pagethe first time? I have to stop the page from loading and reload the current page. It will then complete the page load.

Home page loads fine but going anywhere else the page blanks white and continues to show the page is still loading. The tab animation stops indicating the page name. The line at the bottom of the browser stops saying transfering data but page is not displayed in the browser window. I then have to press the X to stop the page load, when the symbol changes I press it again to reload the current page. The page then appears in the browser window.

Use the 'Blocksite' which is Firefox addon and put the web address to be blocked. It allows other Firefox sites to be visited. It worked for me hope it does for you. Regards

Same thing here. I have to stop or reload pages all the time in FF8. Really annoying!

The problem is NOT trying to block any site. The problem is that sites will NOT LOAD in FF8! What does blocksite have to do with this?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You can also try to reset (power off/on) the router.
