I am attempting to recover my old bookmarks (and, hopefully, history) from my old computer to transfer to my new computer.

I recovered the hard drive from my old computer and am in the process of transferring my old files from it, but I am unsure where to find the old bookmark files. It would be wonderful if you could also help me recover the history -- I was in the habit of keeping a lot of tabs open and simply restoring them whenever I restarted my computer, so a lot of data was lost when my computer crashed.

Hi,

If the backup files are intact, then you would be able to copy the required files from the backup after installing Firefox and running it at least once in the new PC.

Backup

Firefox Profile Folder

You have to copy and overwrite the needed files from the old profile folder into the same folder structure in the new profile. Some of the important files could be places.sqlite which holds the bookmarks and history, cert8.db which stores personal and additional certificates, key3.db + signons.sqlite which stores the saved websites usernames/passwords etc. To open the new profile folder, in Firefox, Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder and exit Firefox.

All right, did that. Now it says that firefox is running but not responding, even though I've restarted my system twice.

Please check for the parent.lock file and delete it, if present in the profile folder.
