I can type an URL in the address bar but I cannot submit the URL via the enter key or "go" button. I have google as my homepage and I can type a search but not submit it. I have reinstalled FF several times. I have deleted my profiles. I have disabled addons. Nothing works. I am running version 20. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. Ever user on the computer has this problem.

Chosen solution

If you are in a business network environment:

Firefox 20.0 has a problem with configurations where your Windows profile is stored on a server using a UNC path (e.g., \\userdata\greg). There is not currently a solution for this. One workaround might be to choose a local folder for your personal Firefox settings, but that might not be allowed by your IT. Although it is less secure, if you urgently need Firefox, you could downgrade to Firefox 19.0.2. This article has a link under "I still want to downgrade": Install an older version of Firefox.

If you are in a home environment or your settings folder is local, then please ignore the above.

Maybe it is possible to map this network share to a drive letter instead and update the profiles.ini file accordingly.

This is currently investigated and tracked via this bug report.
