My new Firefox 22.0 automatically opens a Yahoo Search tab in addition to my home page tab. How do I eliminate the Yahoo tab?

I updated Firefox to Version 22.0 and found that it treated Yahoo as my home page. I changed back to my original home page, but it also loads a tab for Yahoo Search in addition to the tab for my home page. I don't want the Yahoo Search tab. How do I prevent the Yahoo Search tab from opening when I open Firefox?

I followed the directions for "delete a user.js file if needed ," but, once I clicked on "show folder" to show the profile folder, I have no idea what I should do to stop the "Yahoo Search" tab from opening whenever I open Firefox. This started when I updated Firefox to Version 23.0. I don't know if it is irremovably programmed into this version of Firefox or if, as I hope, I can stop it from opening. I would appreciate further directions. Thanks.
