a few questions

1) when I export bookmarks to HTML, it does NOT include Bookmark Folder on Toolbar. How do I include this?

I only want to save & transfer to 2nd pc selected bookmark folders.

3)So, before I import to another pc ( only want a few folders), do I export to HTML, change html to a txt & delete what's not wanted & then revert back to html?

4)then on 2nd pc, just IMPORT and it will be added to bookmarks?

Regarding #1, the export will include Firefox's own Bookmarks Toolbar. However, if you have a toolbar with its own set of bookmarks (like Yahoo! bookmarks), those are not part of Firefox's bookmark store and not included in the export.

Unless there are privacy related reason that you do not want to import ALL the bookmarks into your second PC, it is easier to edit/delete from within Firefox than to work with the HTML code in a text editor.

When you import onto the second PC, you usually will get a folder called Imported Bookmarks either on the Bookmarks Menu or under Unsorted Bookmarks. You can access these, edit, and reorganize using the Library dialog. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+b
  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

Thanks will try it. However, when I opened saved HTML bookmark list it began with the Bookmark Menu & the above Toolbar bookmarks ( Firefox Bookmarks & folders) were not included.

Will try again

The Bookmarks Toolbar is in a weird location in the file. If you do a search for the following, you should find it down toward the bottom:

PERSONAL_TOOLBAR_FOLDER="true"

That should be something like this:

<DT><H3 ADD_DATE="xxxxxxxxxx" LAST_MODIFIED="xxxxxxxxxx" PERSONAL_TOOLBAR_FOLDER="true">Bookmarks Toolbar</H3>
