I get Tbird unresponive, cannot write to folder, can not make pop3 connection

This Error Message pops up about half the time "Unable to establish TLS connection to POP3 server. The server may be down or may be incorrectly configured. Please verify the correct configuration in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window and try again."

Mozilla - Thunderbird(not responding) shows up when I try to do anything, like open an email or change to a different folder then after a short time it will do the requested task.

When it has made a connection and is trying to download emails I will get an error message about being unable to write to folder for some reason.

I have uninstalled Tbird and reinstalled to no avail .
