can not open private tab at all, how do i fix this
ver42.0 cant open a private browsing window at all, when i use the tool it opens another standard window without the private icon or any visual change to layout

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
Maybe you are in permanent Private Browsing mode. In permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History) all windows and tabs are PB mode tabs and the purple mask is hidden.
You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.
