Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear any personal data?

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

You can try to wait a few seconds longer (e.g. half a minute) to see if that allows Firefox to close completely.

I have the same problem, and I always "Clear history when Firefox closes." Waiting an extra few minutes doesn't help. It seems the only solution is to refresh Firefox, which I'd really rather not do unless there's a way to save my extensions and their settings.

I would be inclined to leave Firefox for up to 10-15 minutes - at least as a test - to try to close down and make sure you use the Firefox menu button option to quit

Menu {Threebar icon)  -->  Quit {Standby icon)

If Firefox fails to closedown properly, it should eventually time out. It should then attempt to submit a Crash Report. Are you getting crash reports if so have you got the recent Crash IDs for a couple of them

sherik0608 Does Firefox closedown ok if you do NOT try to clear History etc on closedown ?

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know it solved your issue.

There is a possibility that indicates a bug or a regression because obviously that option is intended to be used without problems. On the other hand it could be something specific to your own computer or setup of Firefox. If you need to follow up on that I suggest you start your own question, using /questions/new/desktop (And post back here to mention you have done that so that we may follow your progress)
