I hit the delete key by mistake on the sub folders listed under the History and right above Downloads. How do I get them back or get the default file options on the menu again? I want to be able to track my History and how old the list is! Right now the History is not even being recorded.

I found my own solution to the problem

Just to let everyone know the answers I received were missing the most important detail as a recommendation to solve my problem. A few days later, I found a check box on Options/Privacy menu that stops all history from being recorded. I then changed "Never Remember History" to "Remember History" and now everything works fine again.

I sincerely appreciate everyone who invested the time to try and help me by posting an answer to my question suggesting a possible solution.

Unless you have a backup, History once deleted is gone.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

You can try to restore an older copy of places.sqlite.

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the places.sqlite file available.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Note that places.sqlite stores bookmarks and history.

It is not the previous data that I lost, it is the folders. These folders will be empty of data, but they should be in the tree structure. Usually, it has a folder History and then when you click on that there are sub folders (Today, Last 7 Days, This Month, etc... That is what is not there, When I click History, no files or new data appears any longer? I need to know how I get those empty folders back and record new data in them again.

The history folders will be recreated automatically when 7 days and more pass and you have visited new websites to create new history.
