I am not able to load Firefox even after a performing a clean installation, creating new profiles, and having updated drivers. I could not launch Firefox in safe mode (using shift key) as it just crashes as usual.

This is my crash ID: bp-fec77863-1cda-4ebd-9d22-621c82160707

Appreciate if anyone could help with this problem. Thanks :)

Did you use the Profile Manager or did you use Refresh feature to create a new profile?

Try to start Firefox with the about:blank page by creating a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut. Add a space and -url "about:blank" to the target field in the Properties.

Thank you for your reply cor-el. Yes, I did use Profile Manager to create the new profile.

I have also tried adding a space and -url "about:blank" to the target field in the Properties of the desktop shortcut. Unfortunately, Firefox still crashes upon startup.

This is a crass in a component (msmpeg2adec.dll) that is possibly used by an HTML media player or maybe hello (WebRTC).

  • Crash signature:
    Firefox 47.0.1 Crash Report [@ msmpeg2adec.dll@0x860e3 ]

I don't know why Firefox would want to load this component on startup.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
