firefox will not open one specific website

Trying to open Grubhub.com results in a blank white screen with a red bar across the top. no text or images will load. I've tried clearing cookies, and cache, resetting Firefox to default settings, disabling my adblocker, and privacy badger, nothing works. I am not using a VPN. It was working fine until yesterday. No other websites are problematic that I've noticed.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing the problem by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via *"3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)

  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

I opened https://www.grubhub.com/ with no problem.

Red Bar ? ? ?

Hello,

In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Do you use NoScript or uMatrix? I can replicate the screen you describe if I allow the scripts from www.grubhub.com but not from assets.grubhub.com, which may be considered a "third party" host name. (Screenshot attached has the NoScript drop-down displayed showing allowed and blocked script sources.)

Do you use any external ad blocking software (or ad blocking features of your security software)? Sometimes the term "assets" in the address might trigger blocking.

Screenshot.

Safemode allows the site to open.

It was my Privacy Badger extension. If I disable it completely the site will load. Selecting "disable for this website" in the extension options doesn't work. I have to totally disable it. Thanks for the help.

I guess it blocks certain "third party" addresses without an option to make an exception for those? If you like the extension, you might report that to EFF and see what they can do to make it easier in the future.
