I have a laptop, desktop at home and a mobile phone. When I setup sync on these devices, the bookmarks become corrupted.

I've tried: Removing all devices from sync Changing the password - I read somewhere that a new storage is created when the password is changed Syncing each device one-by-one.

My bookmarks get messed up. There are duplicates, the order changes. Some old bookmarks seem to appear, etc.

How can I get this sync thing to work?

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page or Places Maintenance can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

If you use Sync then best is to reconnect one device at the time and wait for the initial Sync to finish before connecting another device once you have fixed the bookmarks.
