I mistakenly did right mouse click => View Page Info, and then blocked images from a website. Is there a way to undo this?

I am building a test website with a canned web template using a company called "Without Code", and mistakenly attempted to "block" what I thought was just one picture in that prebuilt template, but that blocked all images coming from that feed site. That is, I right clicked on an area of the page...went to the menu item "View Page Info"...and then clicked on "Block images from...". Does anyone know of a way to unblock...or undo...what I did?

When you're on that site, click on the 'i' in a circle, next to the padlock at the left side of the address bar. That will take you to 'Page Info'. Then click on the little black arrow on the dropdown and then on 'More Information'. Under the Permissions tab, scroll down to 'Load Images' and check 'Allow' (= Default).

Then under the Media tab, make sure that 'Block Images' is unchecked.

Hi dogwheel, as McCoy suggested, use Page Info to undo what you did in that dialog.

If all else fails:

You can delete the data file which stores site permissions (such as whether it can show popups), called permissions.sqlite in your currently active profile folder (Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data). Make sure Firefox has shut down completely before removing any of its files.

However, if this is your regular profile and not one you created for testing, that could be a painful workaround...

Thanks for the quick response McCoy, but unfortunately your great suggestion did not work. The “Load Images” was already set to “Allow”(=Default), and the “Block Images” box was…and is…unchecked. A quick summary of the impact of what I did…it only affects the Firefox browser on the computer I did the block on, and only the image feeds coming from that blocked website. Everything works fine with other browsers on that same computer. That may seem intuitively obvious to you, but I had to think it through. With all that said, I am amazed that there does not appear be any easy way to simply see the blocked site on Firefox, and unblock it somehow! FYI that I do have the URL of the site that I blocked…but also do not see a way to add that back in the Firefox system somehow? Any additional thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated. PS: The other person that responded “jscher2000” suggested a more drastic fix related to messing with the ‘permissions.sqlite” file…which I only want to do as a last resort. Perhaps uninstalling / reinstalling Firefox might be an option, if you thought it would address this blocked site issue? Thanks in advance for your consideration!

Hi, as Firefox does not come with a Native Block Image what did you install that puts that context into your Right Click. As whatever you used is the way to undo it.

fyi only and not affiliated to but this is a good site for templates and the link at bottom also for the price is great stuff as I bought. https://html5up.net/ Free is good.

From your original post I gathered that you only accidentally blocked
images - now you're saying that the site is blocked ...... (?)

You would have had to use something like the BlockSite extension to do
that - as you don't mention it, I'm ruling that out.

The only thing I can think of now is to contact "Without Code" and tell them exactly what you told us  :

Do you know what domain this is about?

You can possibly check this in the Network Monitor.

Then you can open a link from this domain via the location/address bar and check the image permissions for this domain in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions".

Check "Tools -> Page Info -> Media" for blocked images

  • select the first image and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list
  • if an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain

Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly and professionally to my issue. Bottom line...despite great suggestions on how to reconcile my "mistake"...I cannot fix the problem. That is, I inadvertently blocked a website that prevents me from using FIrefox with a company that I am doing web development with. My workaround is to simply use another browser when working with that company, which is undesirable...but acceptable. Thanks again...

"Without Code" can't help you rectify the mistake  ?

Without Code did reply right away to my request for assistance, but understandably said they cannot help with browser related issues that are specific to my computer. Thanks

You can rename/remove permissions.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to reset all permissions.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
