Hello,

Master Password+ was able to put a password on firefox starting up, as well as an automatic logout. I need exactly this but unfortunately the plugin is now unavailable to current versions of FF. Does anyone know of an alternative plugin I can use pleasw?

Master Password+ 'Lock FireFox with Password' Usually, Master Password can only prevent users from viewing saved passwords on Firefox. But Master Password+ is a Firefox plugin that extends the functionality of Master Password. You can configure Master Password+ to make Firefox ask for the master password at startup. Firefox will then ask the user for the master password every time a new session is opened. The browser window opens only after authentication is successful.

Note that using an extension to use the MP to block access to Firefox only works halve way and can easily be bypassed by starting in Safe Mode (i.e. hold the Shift key when starting Firefox).
If you want to block access to Firefox then you need to do this at the OS level and if necessary then create a Windows guest account for others, so they have their own profile folder.

I would still would like to know if there is an equivalent plugin to achieve what Master Password+ did? (ie in terms of putting a password on FF starting up, as well as automatically logging out.)

You can logout by canceling a MP prompt like you get if you want to reveal a password in Lockwise or with more effort via the Security Devices manager (Options -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates -> Security Devices -> Software Security Device).

Web extensions can't achieve this because you need to close Firefox when you cancel a MP prompt and this isn't available.
