Can I merge tabs for different windows by dragging the tab without resizing the window?

more options

I was a Chrome user and recently shifted to Firefox. Everything is fine but I found out that when I want to merge 2 windows, I have to resize the upper window till the tabs of bottom one appear, so that I can drag and merge them into one. It's quite annoying sometimes especially when using a laptop with the touching pad. In Chrome, when I drag the upper window downward, the bottom one will show up then they can be merged just by a simple drag. Is there any extension or method to do this in Firefox?

Hmm, I don't think there is a way to get Firefox to resize the window you are dragging from or make it translucent so you could more easily access the destination window.

You can use the standard Windows trick of:

  • drag the tab down to the Taskbar and hover the Firefox icon until the windows appear
  • move your mouse pointer over the destination window and wait for it to be brought to the front
  • then drag and drop the tab onto the tab bar

Not as fast, and I know it's tricky to drag long distances with a touchpad.

There are tab manager/window manager add-ons that add a context menu to move the tab to a different window. If you don't get a solution with the built-in features, you could search for one of those.
