Thunderbird profile question
I use Gmail via Thunderbird. I am migrating away form Gmail to a private email service. They recommend I back up my Gmail prior to leaving Gmail. Does the Profile folder serve as a suitable backup? Thanks,

Is your intent to save the messages on gmail input and sent folders? If IMAP, you need to ensure you download all of them, using File>Offline>Download, and then copy Local Folders. If POP, then copy to local folders. Verify that all messages are stored prior to deleting the Gmail account.
