I'm unable to change my homepage from about:blank, with the chat support, Viictor walked me through using about:config to change my homepage to the default. However on closing and restarting homepage is reset to about:blank always?
I have re installed firefox 3.6.8 two or three times, also reverted to an older version then again reinstalled to 3.6.8.

Some possible causes are a locked or corrupt preferences file, or a user.js file resetting the preference on startup. For details on this see How to fix preferences that won't save
