In the address bar, usually when one types a keyword and hits ENTER, it displays the search results of that keyword in the default search provider set. But, in this case, it shows the results in a mywebsearch.com search. In spite of removing from Manage search engine list, it still displays search results in mywebsearch. The search provider in the address bar is google, and that works fine. But, when searched via address bar, this issue appears. There is a similar issue with one more system. In that case, it is an AVG-yahoo search. I have not seen this in firefox in other systems. This continues from version 3 to now installed v4. There is a mywebsearch plugin which is Disabled. There is no option to remove it.

Go to about:config, type mywebsearch in the 'filter' box, when entries returns, right click on the entries and click reset. [that will delete all those mywebsearch from the firefox].

Once that is done, type into search for keyword.URL, Status - Userset, Type - String and Value -http://www.google.com.my/search?q=.

keyword.Enabled, Status - default, Type - booleanand Value -true.

I have a system with many blocks on it, to stop unauthorised programs like this, well I thought, so I was very surprised to find my staff had managed to get this installed on an office computer. I hate the fact you keep getting rid and it just comes back again a few days later. I also uninstalled and re-installed Firefox a number of times. It is also a fitting moment to remind people that no security software is going to protect the user who are intent on installing software that may be tainted with malware, as long as that user is willing to ignore any advice (or alerts) to the contrary. Removal of Malware is often hard, but this one is getting past a joke now! I have checked all over the place, but it must have a hidden file on the computer that as of yet I have not located it. I have removed from comp. reg. so many entries I lost count. How do you fully remove this dam program?

Just as a note of interest… As for MySearch … Well the so called search webpage system is not good at all and if you type any information in, it looks like it tends to go to AdWords listings. It is so good a search tool, often or not, the results it picks are not even remotely connected with what you are looking for! I have also contacted Google about the MySearch sites for a comment.  ;) Will let users know should I get a reply soon… Plus I found that on Firefox, after removal of the ‘tool bar’, often Firefox locks up. Also it takes you to a home page it wants you to see and not what you typed in, when entering a http://.

MySearch in my view is a joke and a bad one at that! Would love to know if anyone likes it???
