I updated firefox and now java does not recongnise the version of firefox.
I am accessing a university website that uses blackboard. Now to access blackboard you must run java. Which I have done without a problem until I downloaded an update for firefox. Then I have received warnings when I go onto blackboard re: java does not recognise this version of firefox.

Blackboard is slow at supporting new versions of Firefox, and they never support Beta versions. Look under Supported Browsers for the version of Firefox that is supported for the version of Vista or Campus Edition your school uses. Depending upon which version your school is using, you will have to use Firefox 3.0.x, 3.5.x, 3.6.x or maybe even Firefox 2.0.0.20 if your school hasn't updated their software in recent years, when accessing the Blackboard site.
My advice is to install the Firefox Portable version that you need for Blackboard on your computer, and use that installation only for Blackboard. Continue to use 3.6.x or 4.0 for all other web browsing. The Portable version won't affect the official version at all.
