the new ffox's cache has just folders, what happened to FILES!?
Ive been using Namoroka. When I go to its cache folder, under mozilla, I see usually 100s of file. I just tried new Moz FFox browser: when I go to cache (now), I see no files at all only 15-20 folders, each with a 2 char name. Inside these are even MORE folders, then finally a/some/many USEFUL files. Why was this implemented!? I need to look immediately at/for files, not guess where the file is by opening all these folders! Cannot the "default" be once again, files not folders, like the good old days!?

Rather than navigating to the folders themselves try going to about:cache in the location bar, that is probably a much better way of accessing the information, and contains much more information.
- bug 597224 - HTTP Cache: use directory tree to store cache files
- CacheViewer Version 0.7b: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/cacheviewer/versions/
The CV 0.7b version is not compatible with Firefox 4+ versions, so you need to bypass the compatibility check if you want to use CacheViewer in Firefox 4+.

I tried what you sugg'd about/reg "viewer",,,,,I still see my http cache folder filled with folders NOT files,,,,is what I have asked/reported herein, considered a "bug"(597224)!? I have MFfox 6 something, so its > 4...... is this a "bug" that will get "fixed" or will I just have to get used to seeing folders in Cache folder, instead of all files!? thanx
Mozilla uses the word "bug" for their internal documents. This is not a real bug, as in computer problem. You will have to get used to seeing folders. The 2 char names are simply hexadecimal numbers. This was designed for maximum speed. A lot of users have been complaining about the speed of the olders Firefoxes.
I still favor ease of "using/finding" stuff, over speed,,,,but I guess speed wins, on this one! I will continue using Namoroka I guess, I like its http Cache better. Do you know how long Namoroka will be available/supported? I dont see many "auto updates" in it any more,,,,,anyway: thanx to all, on this one, for clearing the air, and giving me the facts! bob
Namoroka 3.6.x is only getting security updates these days. As to how long, my guess is until shortly after Mozilla releases an ESR version for enterprise users early next year, like maybe Feb or early March.
