This problem started occurring a while ago however, I ignored it until a few unforeseen problems came up. So if a Firefox browser is not already open and I try to open it, it takes exactly 59 seconds to actually load. If I already have a browser open then it loads up at a normal speed. On occasion, Firefox stops responding for a little bit however this could be a completely unrelated problem. This problem has persisted through many Firefox updates and has not fixed itself and it occurs on every user on my pc (Ones with no extensions/bookmarks etc) I've done all that I know how to do, any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks!

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thank you for your reply Cor-el, I'm not sure if firewall is the problem however I stumbled across something questionable when I ran the program "EnumProcess". I ran the program and it tells me I have three things running. It says: (Red font)"Windows Firewall is on" (Red font)"1 Service(s) from Avira (AntiVir) detected" and (golden font)"antispy process from Microsoft Windows Defender detected". We are also currently using Norton AntiVirus, the thing that draws my attention is the Avira. Avira has never been formally installed onto our system yet it is detected. I've checked the program files list and "C:\Program Files\Avira" yet I could not find it. Once again, any help would be amazing!

Cannot seem to fix this problem :(

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I created a new profile but the problem still occurs. 4 extensions and 16 Plugins were carried over. The extensions: Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Contribute Toolbar, Microsoft.NET Framework assistant and Symantec IPS. (All by default disabled)

It seems like all of my plugins were carried over to my new profile, I suppose this shouldn't happen? All of the plugins are enabled by default and manually disabling them doesn't fix the problem :(. I'm terribly sorry for the trouble, I just can not seem to fix this problem. More assistance would be amazing!

Plugins are found via a (registry) scan and are always the same in all profiles unless you create a plugins folder in the Firefox profile folder and install them in that folder.

Slow startup is either a profile problem or caused by other (security) software that monitors the start of Firefox. AV software may want to scan all files that Firefox opens if not configured properly to give Firefox full permissions.
