I want to add application shortcuts to my bookmarks toolbar ala IE where i can just drop the link into the Favorites bar. Any suggestions? Whether its a shortcut or a direct link to the program FF wants to safe the file.

What kind of applications? If they are web applications with a URL, you should be able to add them. If they are JavaScript applications, you might be able to add them (e.g., as "bookmarklets").

That's not a built-in feature. Over the years, there have been add-ons to launch links in external applications, or maybe even just to mimic IE's feature. However, the reviews of what seems to be available now are not that promising. You're probably better off using the Windows 7 "pin to Taskbar" feature for your most frequently accessed applications.
