I've uninstalled the program. I've deleted all registry entries. I've deleted babylon from the top right search engine.

I've gone into about:config and reset every line with babylon. I've also tried replacing babylon with google and then resetting the babylon entries.

But the babylon entries still appear when I close firefox and reopen about:config.

One way that programs can insert settings into Firefox preferences is to create a user.js file in your personal settings folder (AKA Firefox profile folder). To check for that:

Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button

If you find a file named user.js

(1) Rename it to something else

(2) Return to Firefox, open about:config, and Reset the Babylon entries

(3) Restart Firefox to see whether you've flushed it

Any luck?

Did all those things. I don't currently have an issue with babylon sabotaging anything, but it still shows when I enter about:config and search on babylon. Hence it is still hanging around.

THAT WORKED! Many thanks!

Any reason not to delete the user.js file?

more options

You might keep the old user.js file in case you later learned that it had actual preferences you wanted and you needed to copy them to a new file. Otherwise, no reason.

What is the content of the user.js file if you open it for inspection in a plain text editor like Notepad?

Yes, that all all entries added by Babylon, so you can remove that user.js file and check if it doesn't return.
