Are you saying that websites show you a mobile version of their sites instead of the regular version?

Or is the problem that Firefox is "masking" the window and uses only a part of the screen? For the second problem, you may need to turn off something called responsive design view. If you press the Esc key or press Ctrl+Shift+m, Firefox should switch back to regular view.

I searched on youtube and found a partial solution of pressing control, shift "R". But, I'm having to press this for many sites now. It appears as though firefox is sending the android(small info screen) program to my desktop. I've come to find that it's actually a "cache" problem of some sort? However, I have no idea how to permanently fix this issue. Is there some function that I can enable so I don't have to repeatedly press control+Shift+R at every site that doesn't display properly? The cache contains copies of page that Firefox retrieved previously, to save time in redisplaying the page in the future. Using Ctrl+Shift+r forces a full new retrieval, bypassing what's in the cache.

You can dump your cache completely if you like and see whether that helps. If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes and free Firefox while it's working.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

(Note there is a second "Clear Now" button for the offline cache but that one usually doesn't affect regular browsing.)

If the problem recurs, I wonder any of the following might be applicable:

(1) An add-on is providing inaccurate information to the site about your system. This could be an extension such as User Agent Switcher, which is designed to let Firefox masquerade as another system, or something which blocks your user agent information so the site is providing a dumbed down layout.

(2) Your security/privacy software is stripping or blocking information about your browser. This might include your user agent information or cookies.

(3) There is a strange Flash interaction. Many sites interact with the Flash player for purposes other than showing movies, including storing game or identification data (because many people clear their cookies). I wonder whether the Flash player is providing inaccurate information?? As a test, you could block sites from using Flash unless you want them to. This extension can do that: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ad.../flashblock/.
