How to enable cookies for the site I am on? (WinXP)

more options

I have several questions about cookies. I hope it's OK to post them all at once, rather that each one in a separate topic.

1. Cookie Prompt

I would like to configure FF so that whenever a website tried to store a cookie, FF will prompt me with these options:

 a. Always allow.
 b. Allow for this session only.
 c. Never allow.

Is that possible? If so, what are the settings? If not, is there any chance this will be added at some point? This would make life so much easier. What I do now is copy the URL top the clipboard, then open the Privacy setting dialog and paste the URL into the exceptions window.

I didn't see any way to attach images to this post, so I put a screen shot of my current privacy settings in this DropBox folder:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2le075i5wn6maaa/U8ob-Q7FIJ

2. Format of Exceptions

What's the correct format of the entries in the Exceptions dialog? For xyz.com, is it "xyz.com"? "www.xyz.com"? ???

3. Toolbar Icon

Is there a toolbar icon I can add to put the current website in the Exceptions list?

Thanks

Note that if you set Firefox to ask every time how to proceed with cookies that you will likely end up with a lot of dialog windows in this case.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the domain in the currently selected tab by clicking the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar and "More Information" to open "Page Info" and go to the Permissions tab.

You can delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all permissions.

There are also extensions that can mange the cookie permissions, so have a search on the Mozilla Add-ond website.

This might be cool too, just a button: [Cache Button]

You can add images on Browse button on the bottom of this thread. :-)

To manage cookie exceptions for the site listed in the address bar (a page may contain elements from many servers that all set cookies, this only applies to the main site), you can use the Permissions tab of the Page Info dialog. To open that, you can use any of these:

  • right-click > View Page Info > Permissions
  • Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
  • click the globe or padlock icon in the address bar > More Information > Permissions

It's a bit more than 1 click...
