That particular crash report is a Flash plugin crash. Did it take down all of Firefox? That isn't supposed to happen... (Flash should run isolated in plugin-container.exe and should only crash plugins.)

As a short-term workaround for sites like Amazon (or a lifestyle adjustment if you like the result), you could stop sites from using Flash automatically and require them to get your approval.

To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".

When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash plugin, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:

(1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.

(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash

(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

(3) Disable the protected mode feature. It has security benefits, but is not compatible with all systems for some reason. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file.

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

Any improvement?

It causes firefox to become non responsive, the windows error message pops up saying it's searching for a solution then closes.

I already have shockwave flash set to ask to activate. I already have hardware acceleration disabled in both firefox and flash. I tried the disable protected mode you suggested but it still occurs.

All of my plugins are up to date.

I have to ask, does FF think anyone is going to spend 30 + minutes conducting series of tests to make FF work? The 32.0.1 IMMEDIATELY causes FF to crash on W 7 64 bit - but on W8.1 64 bit, it runs fine. 

I ran safe mode and no problem, but I am not going to spend 30 + minutes trying to figure out which addon is causing the crash.

I am gonna go get the previous version unless this is resolved.

Hi pashadad, your issue of immediately crashing on startup sounds different than the problem posted by leonardlatt; did you mean to reply in a different thread?

When Firefox crashes, it usually records information about what was happening at that moment. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox Crashes" (especially the last section) for steps to get those crash report IDs, and then post some of the recent ones in a new question you can start here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions.../fix-problems.

Other thoughts:

Safe Mode also disables hardware acceleration, which sometimes is needed to work around incompatibilities between Firefox and your graphics card driver software. Try unchecking the box here while in Safe Mode before trying to start normally:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > "General" mini-tab > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I believe this helped you with earlier crashes.

Hi leonardlatt, did you only start having this problem after the recent update to 32.0.1 or do you recall having it with the earlier 32.0 release? If you want to try reinstalling Firefox 32.0, you can find a link in this article: Install an older version of Firefox. For security reasons, it is not advisable to roll back further than that.

Note: You do not need to uninstall Firefox 32.0.1 before running the 32.0 installer.
