No preview or preview button appears when I try to print a web page, as it does for any other file. How can I arrange for preview?

n the dialog box that appears when I try to print any web page, there is neither a preview nor a preview button, (although there is a preview if I open the web item as a pdf file, but that takes an extra step. A preview appears when I print any other file on my computer (a Macbook). Is there a setup procedure that will give a preview when printing one or several web pages?

Does that happen in Firefox safe mode? If not, it might be an extension causing a problem.

The Print button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list opens the Print Preview window. You can click the Print button in the Print Preview window or use the Print item in the File menu (File > Print) or use the Ctrl+P shortcut to have access to the print selection item and other print setup options.

  • Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.
  • Use "View > Toolbars > [X] Menu Bar" to have the menu bar visible permanently.

cor-el, Mac Firefox never had a Firefox button in the window, so I would think that current Mac Firefox would not have a 3-bar button in the window. The menu bar for a Mac application is outside the window at the top of the screen, and it cannot be hidden.

The current "3-bar" Firefox menu button is different then the previously used Firefox menu button as this 3-bar button is always visible and the Firefox menu button was only shown if the menu bar is not visible (i.e. hidden). So I would assume that this button is also available on Mac because the current Navigation Toolbar layout depends on it.

Whether I use the prinr button from the "3 bar", File>Print, or Command+P, I get a dialog box (that identifies the printer being used, number of copies, etc), but it does not contain a preview, or a preview button. That is not the case when I open a word file or excel file or other file

I'm not sure what safe mode is, but it sounds like something that would require an action on my part beyond downloading the latest version of Firefox, which is all I've done. I do not have the same problem with Safari or Google Chrome. How would I find out whether there is truly an extension problem and how to correct it?

You can use safe mode from Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled. If the preview button appears in the print window then, you know it is probably an extension causing the problem. In that case, go back to normal mode and start disabling extensions until the preview button appears again. That way, you can zero in on the cause.
