permanent copy of emails
I have gmail, and I almost use all the available space of 15 G. Can I use Thunderbird to store emails on my hard drive, so that I can free up spaces on my gmail account ? If I can, how? Please help.
T clarify the matter, I want to store old emails from 2006-2009 on my drive (and I can access these later easily thru Thunderbird), and then I go to Gmail account, and delete these old emails to free up space.

You'd need to move messages off of the server to your Local Folders account.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am a newbie to Thunderbird. Based on your suggestion, I tried and it worked. Simply highlighting a number of emails, and moved them into a folder inside Local Folders. Done. Now I completely moved over 15,000 emails from 2006-2011 off the Gmail server to a local folder called 2006-11. Thanks again.
