After many years of solid browser performance across several platforms and devices I've encountered a new issue that has me stomped for past 48 hours. Firefox esr 38.5.2 freezes at launch with the error "chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:70"

I followed articles suggestions to Start in Safe Mode and Refresh firefox. No change.

I uninstalled firefox esr, downloaded latest version of firefox 43.04 and installed it. No change, same error at launching.

This same trouble runs on 3 different Windows 7 (64bit) devices. All the devices have 3 browsers (Chrome, IE11, FF ESR) which have been otherwise running well.

Searching for the error above via Google led to just 4 results that offered little new information other than the usual Mozilla article on how to run it in safe mode or refresh.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
