Firefox 44 has been getting REAL slow in Windows 7 Pro. Decided to 'Refresh' it. All my bookmarks are gone that I spent years organizing - even though I beleive it stated that only the add-ons would be removed. There is an Old Firefox Data/jmguyvan.default folder on the desktop. There's a bookmarkbackups folder in there which has 15 files. I had about 15 or so bookmarks, some of them were folders with many files within. In the bookmarkbackups folder, I can only choose one file. It says it'll overwrite the current bookmarks. So how do I do this?

The name of a JSON bookmarks backup file includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once.

  • bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.

You can restore a JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.
