selecting 'Use the selected profile without asking at startup' does not work. Starting thunderbird presents me with the profile manager, listing the default profile and my 'real' profile. I select my 'real' profile, check 'Use the selected profile without asking at startup' . But the next time I start T-bird, I am again presented with the profile manager and have to select the profile.

Could you check something for me.

make hidden files and folders visible:

Close Thunderbird. Assuming your profiles are in the default location, go to this location:

  • C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\

In the 'Thunderbird' folder, you should see 'Profiles' folder. There will also be 'profiles.ini' file. Open 'profiles.ini' file using Notepad

I need to know exactly what is written in that file. Post an image of that window showing it's contents.
