Since March 8th I have encountered several crashes per day of the browser, always when closing a tab.

The occurrence of this appears to be random, in that this can occur within a few seconds of the browser being opened of half an hour or so. Additionally the pages on the tabs being closed appears to be random. The number of tabs currently opened seems to not be a factor either.

The crash report of the last crash was 405af561-b918-47e6-9460-6c8f92160322

I followed the procedure to "Refresh Firefox" and reinstalled my addons but the crash behavior still occurred.

Even running the browser in safe mode has not fixed the crash problem.

You're suffering from the same problem as myself, Trusteer Rapport is conflicting with Firefox 45. You'll find that if you go onto the start menu, go to programs, Trusteer Endpoint Protection, and click on stop trusteer, Firefox will work fine.

I've been trying for the last fortnight to get a solution to this and it's still ongoing for me and quite a few others I believe. I was advised by the Rapport support people to do a complete uninstall - see http://www.trusteer.com/support/uninstalling-rapport then http://www.trusteer.com/support/remove-rapport-folders and finally install the latest version via http://www.trusteer.com/support/rapport-installation-links

Weirdly I already had the latest version installed, but although it still crashes now and again (I can go a couple of days without it happening) it is much more stable than before where it went down every 15 minutes or so. My feeling is that it doesn't like tabs at all - Firefox feels slower when opening and closing tabs with Rapport switched on. Hopefully someone will figure it out soon and do a silent update.

I saw on a report of another issues that it helps to provide the crash report numbers for more than one instance of a crash, so here are my last 10.

BTW... the instance rate of crashes is higher than shown here do to me not always submitting a crash report when the problem occurs.

Firefox Developers are aware of these issues, and made comments in both the Firefox 44 and Fx45 release notes that Trusteer software is a problem with Firefox.
