Almost every time I send a message using any of the account I have the program hags for a few seconds, sometimes minutes. I have windows 10 and I install Thunderbird and restore the backup I had when I was using Windows Vista 64. This Hanging thing is now more frequent that before in Windows 10. It happens sometime when I was using the other version of windows. I have several email accounts (6).

Thanks for the suggestion, but I only use the antivirus from Microsoft, I usually don't install any other type of antivirus. The problem continue, I like thunderbird very much but if this issue continues I will have to discontinue using it. I install outlook and using it simultaneously so I can have the alternative.

And what makes a free anti virus more reliable than a paid one?

My guess is you have a huge sent folder. Try right clicking it and selecting compact.
