My e-mai list of messges is truncated (from left to right) because the list of my folders is always at the extreme left of the screen. My usual e-mail tool bar (e.g., Messges, New, Move to, etc.)is not viewable. How do I rid myself of the Folders listing when I open the e-mai program?

Right click in the blue bar at the top, to the right of the tab. You should see an option to enable the Menu Bar, which will reveal the Thunderbird command menus. Select the View menu, then the Layout command, and remove the tick beside Folder Pane.

Amanchesterman's directions worked like a charm. I've been trying from time to time for a week or better to solve the problem by myself. This is the first time I have ever used Support Forum and I find its results to be remarkable - at least to this 85 year old non-technocrat.
