When I opened thunderbird before update, I used to have a choice of my emails or my wife's emails. Now it only opens with mine.

There used to be a screen allowing the selection of 3 different email accounts when Thunderbird was opened. Now Thunderbird opens immediately with my email account and no choice to select any other account. Are the other accounts (profiles?) lost? If not how can I restore them and choose which one will open?

The other profiles are probably still there, but somehow the target of the shortcut got changed such that the Profile Manager is being skipped. Follow these steps to force Thunderbird to bring up the Profile Manager whenever you use the shortcut. 1. Right click Mozilla Thunderbird icon and choose "Properties". 2. Add " -p" to end of Target field so that "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" becomes "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -p Make sure that added " -p" is outside of quotation marks. 3. Choose "OK". 4. Start Thunderbird using icon. 5. Observe that Profile Manager appears.
