Adobe critical update pops up and kicks me off of site. Strange mostly politically conservative sites get this hit.

When sites ask you to update Adobe Flash as you know it is a scam. So it is usually the site who has the malware on it. It would do no harm for you to check your own system to see if you have something calling it.
