Windows 7 Pro SP1, 4G RAM, 64b, Core i5 Intel HD Graphics Thunderbird 52.6.0 (32b)

An email arrived containing 3 DWG (AutoCAD) files. All three only total 707KB. So, not large files. Right-click single attachment (258KB) choose Save As... Save Attachment window opens. No problem at this point. BUT, not in the directory I want to save. So... Change to the appropriate directory and... crash! CrashID 8c31a042-7f95-49f4-a692-baecb0180201 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ re-creatable. no idea what to do with this. Anyone with even close to a similar experience?

I should probably add I have tested this with other file types: xlsx, docx, etc. Does not produce the same problem. Only seems to happen with dwg files.

The report for your original crash indicates a problem with acsigncore16.dll, for AutoCad digital-signature validation. See if you can follow the instructions to disable it.

Tools/Options/Attachments/Incoming: if there is an entry for dwg content type, Delete Action from the drop-down menu, OK, restart TB, and see if you still get the crash.

Also, check if you have an antivirus scanning attachments, i.e. email folders.

I have disabled antivirus and checked the suggested location in Options. There is nothing listed in either Incoming or Outgoing.

Same problem occurs. new CrashID bp-868d160f-6ea6-4dcf-a5e4-279580180201

Yes!! That appears to be it. I read through the link and it mentioned renaming acsignicon.dll to AcSignIcon.dll. That was already the current naming convention but then it mentioned starting AcSignOpt.exe and unchecking the "Validate Digital Signatures" box. So I did.

The problem appears to be solved! I have tested with numerous emails containing dwg files and no crashing.

Thank you so much! And thank you for the rapid response!
