While on the internet a window in Firefox popped up and stated I need to download "fireapi.download" It totally locked up my computer and even after rebooting it came up under Firefox. I had to use the task manager to remove 10 running Firefoxs?

Not a FF issue you went to a site with malware and got malware installed. Now you need to take it to a shop to fix it.

^ignore the suggestion that it is indeed malware and you need to take it somewhere to get system looked at.

fireapi may not be malware depending on where it is from like for example https://www.unibrain.com/products/fireapi-1394a1394b-sdk/ https://www.unibrain.com/licensinginfo/

However since you use Windows you could try and scan your system. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware
