"do this automatically for files like this from now on" greyed out

more options

using Firefox Quantum 64.0.2 (64bit) on Windows 10 Pro 1809 64-bit

Somehow the "do this automatically for files like his from now on" checkbox on the download dialog box has become greyed out and I can't seem to find a way to to have it not greyed out. I have tried a "Refresh Firefox" and the check box was still greyed out when Firefox restarted.

Any suggestions?

Hi bjh_27, this will vary depending on a number of factors, such as how the server identifies the content-type of the download.

Do you have this problem everywhere or only on certain sites?

Does it affect all file types or only certain file types?

it seems to be affecting .zip and .rar and some video file types. I would have thought that performing a "refresh" would have solved the problem. Before doing the "refresh" i was noticing that it was affecting most file types. Then I did the "refresh" and notice that it was not greyed out for some file types and still greyed out for others including .zip and .rar.

Hmm, possibly the site(s) where you are downloading the zip and rar files do not send the standard content-type header. Do you want to try my extension meant to work around that problem and see whether it helps?

The Zzzz button indicates it is sleeping, to turn it on (when you notice the problem), cancel the download, click that button, and try again.
