I have been a Firefox user for more than 20 years. My wife and I are both running Firefox Quantum 65.0 (64-Bit) with Plug-ins Shockwave Flash 32.0 r0 Active. Her computer is a Dell XPS 8700, mine is a Dell XPS 8500, with both machines running updated Windows 7 Professional. We have shared the same internet connection for the last 13 years, via a router on the 8500 machine. My 8500 machine stopped displaying news videos a couple of weeks ago. Her 8700 machine is still working correctly as it has for months & years,\, displaying the same videos that mine will not. I am unable to determine how to restore my 8500 machine to display videos again. I am able to view YouTube and other Videos but not videos via Firefox. IT appears as if something is not loading.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins. Make sure the ones you want to use are set to Ask or Allow. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and Left-click the icon. Select Permissions. In the menu, Make sure the ones you want to use are set to Ask or Allow.

Your Extensions:

  • Adblock Plus - 3.4.3
  • Awesome Screenshot - Capture, Annotate & More 3.0.22
  • Norton Safe Search 3.1.0.20
  • Norton Safe Web 3.4.0.4
  • Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.9.2.1-signed.1-signed (Inactive)

Accessibility: Yes.

Do your Plug-ins look like what I have (in the attached image)?

Also, if you restarted FF in Safe Mode (Restart With Add-ons Disabled), does it change anything?

After trying everything I can think of, the problem still exists.

The web browser we know as Firefox started as Phoenix 0.1 in Sept 2002 so not quite 20 years yet.

You say you can view Youtube and other videos but not in the Firefox web browser?. So what web browser are you able to view Youtube videos on.

Youtube has not made use of the Flash Player Plugin from Adobe since say 2016 or 2015 as they made use of the HTML5 player by default since. May news web sites have been using a HTML5 player instead of Flash to be more cross platform.

If a couple like H.264 and MSE & H.264 are red check marks then you may have a N edition of Windows. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows

Hello James: Thank you for your continued interest in solving my video problem.

The site that gives me problems is: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/ One of the many links within that site that does not work: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/video?playlistId=1.4316317 No Video After attempting to load something, many of the links display a black box where the video should be but still go on to show the text of the news article.

This other News site works correctly: https://vancouverisland.ctvnews.ca/hockey-version-of-footloose-are-young-referee-s-dance-moves-offside-1.4315093 Video Displays OK

Fox News Network Videos show correctly with Firefox

https://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/chatnoir/chatnoir.swf Displays & Plays correctly

It appears that all of the sites utilize Firefox to display the videos, even if I do not invoke Firefox to display them. Thenks, Mait.
