Since updating to latest Android, Firefox requires me to select quit from the menu rather than just using the Android close all option as normal. If I don't do that, I can't use Firefox again until I do it that way. In short, it doesn't work the way it used to or anything at all like other Android apps.

Can someone fix that, please?

Using Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Hi Greg

You do not need to turn on the Quit option in the menu to close Firefox for Android. If you select the right hand Android button on your device, you will be able to see the open apps on your device and either close them individually or close all of them at the same time.

Absolutely wrong! If I just use the option you say, next time I want to use Firefox, I need to selwct quit from the menu anyway.

Please read my original message. I actually said that, there. Obviously you didn't read it properly.

I am going to agree with the original poster and agree that this is an utterly ridiculous and stupid design choice. - Maybe his description is not clear enough, so I shall re-iterate:

When you open Firefox, you may want to one or multiple tabs. Then when closing Firefox, there are at least two user groups: those who wish to retain tabs and thos who wish to close all open active tabs.

The current Firefox for Android does not allow us to close tabs UNLESS we enable the option in the setting AND close Firefox from the menu.

What certain people (me included) want is, that the tabs are closed when we close Firefox without being forced to look for an obscure menu entry. The previous version of Firefox permitted both retaining tabs and closing them - I ALWAYS closed them. In fact, I at time closed Firefox and re-opened it to clean out tabs once I had too many open. Now I need to waste my time closing individual tabs by hand one after the other... (or remember to look for that menu option, though I'm not even sure if it worked on the first release...) Firefox has become worse to use - I'd daresay less user friendly (depending on your usage pattern).

I have seen then in places the suggestion was to use private browsing - though this doesn't resolve the issue as one then loses the caching ability as well as the browsing history...

...the only positive interpretation I can find for the chnages is, that Firefox wishes us to use our phones/Firefox for Android less...
