Deleting profiles

I have copied my profile from the very small C: drive (W10) to the D: drive (SD card) on my Notebook and created a new profile to use the copied data. Now Thunderbird opens using the data on that D: drive.

Naturally I now want to free up the space on my C: drive, but I get very confused about folders and profiles in TB. What is it safe to delete from the C: drive without impacting on anything else?

I've seen other posts about losing everything when doing this - which would be a bit of disaster since it took a whole afternoon of trial and error to set everything up! (Although I do have full backups!)

Could anyone advise me? (Baby steps please!)

Many thanks for that, sfhowes. Simple when you know how!

In future, when I want to update the profile on my Notebook, can I just copy only the relevant profile from my main PC (the 'master' profile, if you like) and paste it over the D: drive profile? Should I delete the Notebook profile first? (Or do I have to copy the complete Profiles folder?)

Apologies for all these questions - and thanks for helping out.

To replace a profile with a backup or one from another computer, empty the contents of the existing profile folder (not the folder itself), and copy in the contents of the source profile folder.

Many thanks sfhowes - exactly what I wanted to know!
