This just started occurring on my PC when I use Firefox: why is the background of the address bar orange/yellow with diagonal stripes and there is a robot at the start of the web address? I'm concerned it may be a virus or the web browser is being remotely monitored.

Please refer to the attached image. Thank you,

In the browser address bar, type: about:config

When the warning appears, click "Accept the Risk and Continue"

In the "Search preference name" box, type: marionette.enabled

Toggle the switch from "true" to "false"

Restart your browser

The robot icon and colored address bar should be gone.

I did all of the above and still have the orange stripes and robot icon. I'd like them both gone.

It worked! Also stopped Bing search redirects. Thanks!

Note that you can hover the robot icon and check in the tooltip what reason is shown. If the reason is 'Marionette' then checking marionette.enabled like suggested above is useful. Other possible reasons are DevTools and RemoteAgent.
