I cannot use Firefox to browse any more, because it refuses to load gmail and/or youtube. These are sites I have used thousands of times in the past, but recently Firefox will not let me go there any more, and it says "secure connection failed." It also says I should "contact the website owners" to inform them of this problem. (Good luck contacting Google!) Seems like this must be an error, since I have used those sites many times in the past. I have looked at this page of Mozilla's: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/secure-connection-failed-firefox-did-not-connect But it is too long and technical for me to deal with. Anybody have any suggestions about how to get Firefox to not freak out when connecting to a Google service?

Screenshot attached of what happened when I tried to launch youtube using Mozilla Firefox. That is ALL that happens - this message shows up and the browser refuses to launch youtube.

Screenshot did not upload after several minutes; trying again.

Looks like screenshot (a png file) will not load. The screen says this: Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.youtube.com. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Then there is a blue box that says "Try again" The address bar at the top of the page says https://www.youtube.com -- but I did not type it in with the "s" designation; I only typed youtube.com

radi.stoyanov said Turns out the option DNS over HTTPS is what caused the problem.

cor-el said This usually means that Firefox wasn't able to find a cipher suites to use to connect to this server and reached the end of the list. There can be two possibilities: one is that the server is outdated and doesn't support modern cipher suites, another might be that the server only supports a few cipher suites and Firefox doesn't support any of these.

You can check your browser and possibly compare this with the server setup. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html
