I try installing the updates, both through the firefox site and automatically, and keep getting the message "Firefox update could not be completed because License could not be verified/found" Or something to that effect.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== The last Update

Download a fresh copy of Firefox and do a clean reinstall (see link at bottom of this message):

  1. Get a fresh copy of Firefox here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  2. Uninstall your current version (Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, click "Mozilla Firefox", click "Remove"). ~~red: IMPORTANT: during the uninstall, be sure that "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" is UN-CHECKED, otherwise you will lose your bookmarks, passwords, and other personal data.~~ See how to back-up your personal data/information at the bottom of this message.
  3. Remove the Firefox program folder before installing the fresh copy of the Firefox installer that you downloaded in 1., above.

Deleting the Firefox program folder is important to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

You can skip the step to create a new profile, that should not be necessary for this issue.
