Very recently, when I launch Firefox it opens with the tabs from my previous session. I have this behavior disabled in the Options menu.

It started doing this, I think, just after I got Sync set up with my desktop and netbook. I have tab syncing disabled, as well.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

This did not solve the problem.

Just fixed it myself. For whatever reason, the Firefox process was not terminating when all windows were closed. When I ended the process in the Task Manager (this is Windows 7, by the way), session behavior returned to normal.
