add-ons authors
Every time I am going to add a new add-on, Firefox displays a "Software Installation" dialog box with the following caption:
"Install add-ons only from authors you trust. Malicious software can damage your computer or violate your privacy."
How does one establishes a trusted author? How does some establishes a trusted add-on?

Especially the "Are add-ons safe to install?" section.
There's no 100% guarantee that any softwares you download on line are completely safe. I have downloaded many softwares from "cnet" and once a while, I was warned by my anti-virus/spywares programs that the software I am about to download is not safe. So you never know.

If you install add-ons from the official site, they should be safe. Furthermore, you can also read the reviews:
Does that mean that all add-ons on the official site are free of any "malicious" (meaning intentional) code, and Tested spyware free like download.com (http://www.cnet.com/download-software-policies/?tag=contentMain;downloadLinks, that can damage a computer, and/or violate ones privacy?
