Since Ive heard my realplayer wont work with the upgrade I wont do it,how important are upgrades?do i need to change out firefox to keep stuff running decently?
How important are upgrades? Since firefox wont let realplayer work I wont upgrade to 11.--however, is this going to slow or otherwise impede smooth computer function? Do I need to switch out firefox to something else to keep everything running smooth and efficient and still get updates that will keep me current without messing up the stuff I already have and use?

where did you see the realplayer add-on isn't compatible? Is this the add-on you are worried about, or realplayer itself? (eralplayer will continue to work no matter what Firefox you have, just the add-on might be disabled).

Updates are extremely important. By not updating, you expose your PC to serious security holes when you browse the web.
Can you tell me what you are referring to, and I can try to help you work around it if you'd like.
It's very important to upgrade to the most up-to-date version of your web browser. Firefox is super safe because it is updated frequently.
I use RealPlayer and sometimes the video downloader feature (where you can download flash/mp4 videos without a separate plugin) stops working when Firefox upgrades but it can usually be fixed by reinstalling the latest release of RealPlayer a little while after Firefox updates. Ordinarily, you shouldn't expect to experience any incompatibility, though.
